Two days after the proclamation of the independent state of Croatia, new local Ustasha authorities issued complete sets of the Yugoslavian definitive King Peter set with the two overprint types of state coat of arms and the inscription “Država Hrvatska” above and “Međimurje” below the coat of arms. This issue was overprinted in Čakovec and distributed to the counters at the Čakovec post office on the same day.
This issue, authorized only by the local authorities, was not recognized by the postal directorate, but nevertheless, there are letters distributed from the Postal offices Čakovec and Varaždin during April and May 1941.
