1941 Unissued Overprints

Table of contents:

New Postal authorities found around 40.000 sets of a Yugoslavian issue from 1940, with all Croatian motifs. They made proof overprints of the new state name and sent those stamps with new overprints directly to Pavelic to get approval for a new issue of stamps.
He refused to approve because the map on the stamp of 4 + 2 din represented only part of a newly proclaimed state.

Some of these overprinted stamps were given to the high-ranking individuals and to the new Postal Museum, which was to be founded. There are unconfirmed reports that an unknown number of these sets were sold at the Post office Zagreb untill 31.07.1941., but without any validity for postal use.

Some other Yugoslavian sets from 1930-40’s were also overprinted with the same overprint, but it was made unofficially.
